Hey there, Mama! Let’s get real for a sec: trying to nail down a morning routine when you have young kids is like herding cats while juggling flaming torches. The struggle is *so* real, right? Between the diaper changes, breakfast meltdowns, and finding that missing shoe, mornings can often feel like pure chaos. But here's the thing: having a solid morning routine can set the tone for a more productive and stress-free day.

The Struggle Is Real

When my kids were toddlers, mornings were a blur of chaos and confusion. I’d wake up groggy, feeling like I had barely closed my eyes, and then immediately plunge into the morning frenzy. My coffee would get cold as I rushed to get everyone dressed, fed, and out the door. There were countless times I thought, “How am I supposed to establish a routine when I can barely catch my breath?”

The reality is, creating a morning routine when you have young kids isn’t easy. But the benefits are worth it. A well-structured morning can help you feel more organized, less stressed, and more in control of your day. It’s not about having a perfect routine but finding what works best for you and your family.

Tip 1: Start the Night Before

Okay, mama, let’s start with a game-changer: prep the night before. Trying to do everything in the morning when you’re half-awake and the kids are in full tornado mode is a recipe for disaster. Instead, take some time each evening to set yourself up for success.

โญ๏ธ Lay Out Clothes: Choose outfits for you and your kiddos the night before. Trust me, it saves you from the morning “what to wear” dilemma.

โญ๏ธ Pack Bags: Get the diaper bag, school backpacks, and your work essentials ready to go.

โญ๏ธ Plan Breakfast: Decide what’s for breakfast. It doesn’t have to be elaborate; even having a plan for cereal, fruit, or overnight oats can streamline your morning.

By handling these small tasks before bed, you’re easing the morning load and giving yourself a smoother start to the day.

Tip 2: Wake Up Before the Kids

I know, I know. The thought of setting an alarm even earlier sounds like torture. But waking up just 15-30 minutes before the kids can make a world of difference. This quiet time is golden for setting your intentions and getting a head start on your day.

โญ๏ธ Hydrate and Breathe: Start your day by drinking a glass of water and taking a few deep breaths. It helps wake up your body and mind.

โญ๏ธ Quick Self-Care: Use this time for a mini self-care ritual. Whether it’s a short meditation, journaling, or just sipping your coffee in peace, this “me time” sets a positive tone for the day.

โญ๏ธ Prioritize Tasks: Take a moment to glance over your to-do list and prioritize your tasks. Knowing what needs to be tackled first can help you stay focused and productive.

Tip 3: Keep It Simple and Flexible

One of the biggest challenges of creating a morning routine as a mom is the unpredictability of young kids. Some mornings will go smoothly, while others will throw you curveballs. The key is to keep your routine simple and flexible.

โญ๏ธ Short and Sweet: Aim for a morning routine that’s manageable. If your routine is too long or complicated, it’s more likely to fall apart. Stick to a few key activities that set you up for success.

โญ๏ธ Go with the Flow: Be prepared to adjust your routine as needed. If the baby wakes up early or your toddler is having a meltdown, it’s okay to shift things around. The goal is progress, not perfection.

โญ๏ธ Involve the Kids: Depending on their age, involve your kids in the routine. Encourage them to help with small tasks like setting the table for breakfast or choosing their outfit. This not only makes them feel included but also teaches them responsibility.

Creating a morning routine when you have young kids is undoubtedly challenging, but it’s not impossible. By prepping the night before, waking up a bit earlier, and keeping your routine simple and flexible, you can transform your mornings from chaotic to calm.

Remember, mama, it’s all about finding what works for you and rolling with the punches. Every small step towards a more organized morning is a victory. So, give these tips a try, and watch your mornings become a little more manageable and a lot more enjoyable. You got this!

ABOUT ME

So who is this Productivity Diva?

Hey, Hey! I'm DaVette! I'm a Mom Life Productivity Coach, a wife, a mom of 3, and I am absolutely obsessed with  TikTok dances. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ’ƒ๐Ÿพ

After 6 years working as a Health and Wellness Coach, I realized that most wellness coaches will tell their clients WHAT to do to get healthy, but not HOW! So with that experience and working through my 3rd postpartum journey dealing with EXTREME Mom brain, Productive as a Mother was born!

I help Moms who are struggling with Mom Brain learn the tools they need to relieve the Mom Brain symptoms. With these tools, Moms will also learn how to create habits that allow them the time freedom they've been missing their families or just much needed time for themselves. My clients use that extra time to get healthy or to start their dream business/side hustle so they can live a life with less stress and overwhelm while still having a clean house.

My planners, journals and courses are a combination of what I've learned dealing with my own struggles and through the personal development books, courses, and coaching I've purchased along the way.. I created these tools for myself but then quickly realized that my methods could also help other Moms feel less like a Hot Mess and more like a Mom Maven! Now you will learn from my trials and errors and accomplishments in one place with the support you need to keep it going. I look forward to helping you create the productive life that you deserve!
