Simple Productivity System for Busy Moms

(No Strict Schedules Required)

If you’ve ever tried to “get your life together,” you’ve probably done this:

Bought the planner.
Downloaded the app.
Started the routine.
Watched the YouTube videos.

Maybe you even read books likeAtomic Habits, The Miracle Morning, or The Compound Effect thinking:
“THIS is going to be the thing that finally fixes me.”
And for a minute… it feels like it might. Until it doesn’t.

Why Most Productivity Systems Don’t Work for Moms

Here’s the problem.

Most productivity systems are built for people who have:
  • uninterrupted time
  • predictable schedules
  • control over their environment
…aka not moms.

As a mom, your day looks more like:
  • Someone needs a snack
  • Someone can’t find their shoes
  • Someone is crying
  • Someone interrupts you mid-thought
And just like that… the system falls apart.

The Hidden Problem No One Talks About

It’s not that the systems don’t work.
It’s that they’re too complicated to stick to in real life.

I remember reading all the productivity books:
  • Atomic Habits
  • The Miracle Morning
  • The 5 Second Rule
  • The Compound Effect
And every single one had amazing ideas.
But here’s where I got stuck:
I had nowhere to put it all together.

I had:
  • one notebook for gratitude
  • one for brain dumps
  • a habit tracker somewhere else
  • goals written in another place
It was chaos.
And I couldn’t stick to anything long enough for it to actually work.

When Productivity Backfires

No one talks about what happens when you try a system… and fail.

For me?

It didn’t just feel frustrating.
It turned into self-loathing.

I thought:
And that led to procrastination.
Which led to doing nothing.
Which led to feeling even worse.
Which (for me) spiraled into depression.

I know that might sound dramatic…
…but if you’ve been there, you get it.

The Biggest Lie Productivity Teaches Moms

Most systems preach:
“Be consistent or it doesn’t work.”

But what they really mean is:
“Do it perfectly or start over.”
Think about things like 75 Hard.
Miss a day? You fail. Start over.

That all-or-nothing mindset is exactly what breaks moms. Because our lives are not predictable.
We get interrupted.
Things come up.
Kids get sick.
Schedules shift.

And when perfection is the standard… you’re always “failing.”

The Simpler Way (That Actually Works)

Here’s the shift that changed everything for me:
Instead of trying to do it all, do enough.
Because “enough” is sustainable.
And when you repeat enough…
It grows into more.
And eventually?
It becomes everything you wanted.

My “Bare Minimum” Productivity System

If you’re overwhelmed, this is where you start.
Not with a 20-step routine.
Not with a color-coded planner.
Just this:

1. Start With a Weekly Focus

Pick a general goal for the week.
Not 50 things.
Just a direction.

2. Plan Your Day With the Bare Minimum

Each day, ask yourself:
“What’s the least I can do today and still feel accomplished?”
That’s your plan.

3. Use Simple Time Blocks

Instead of scheduling every second, create 5 flexible blocks:
  • Work
  • Kids / presence
  • House
  • Yourself
  • (Optional overflow/flex)
Your only goal?
Do at least ONE thing in each block.
That’s it.

4. Track It (So You Can See Your Wins)

Use a habit tracker or checklist.
Not to be perfect…
…but to prove to yourself:

“I am showing up.”

What This Actually Looks Like in Real Life

Here’s a real example of a day using this system:

Work block:
Write a blog post + work on a book chapter

Kids block:
Take them on a nature walk after school

House block:
Clean out ONE cabinet

Self block:
20-minute workout

That’s it.
Not 47 tasks.
Not an overwhelming list.
Just enough.
And the best part?
Most of these don’t even take an hour.

What You Need to Stop Doing Immediately

If you take nothing else from this post, take this: Stop trying to do everything in one day.

Because when you do that:
  • You feel behind
  • You get overwhelmed
  • You snap at your kids when they interrupt you
  • You feel like you’re failing
I know… because I lived that.
I used to scream at my kids simply because I felt like I had to get everything done.
Now?
Everything still gets done.
Just not all at once.
And my house—and my mind—feel completely different.

Why Simple Works Better

When you simplify your system:
You stop quitting.
You stop restarting.
You stop hating yourself for not keeping up.
And you start:
✔ following through
✔ feeling accomplished
✔ having more patience
✔ actually enjoying your life again

The Real Goal Isn’t Productivity

It’s not about doing more.
It’s about:
  • feeling calm
  • being present
  • not snapping at your kids
  • knowing things will get done… just not all today
That’s the difference.
That’s the freedom.

If you want a simple system that already has all of this built in, my Mom Brain Productivity Planner was designed to bring everything (habits, goals, planning, tracking) into ONE place—so you don’t have to juggle 5 different systems just to feel organized.

Because moms don’t need more complexity.
They need something that actually fits their life.

ABOUT ME

So who is this Productivity Diva?

Hey, Hey! I'm DaVette! I'm a Mom Life Productivity Coach, a wife, a mom of 3, and I am absolutely obsessed with  TikTok dances. 😂💃🏾

After 6 years working as a Health and Wellness Coach, I realized that most wellness coaches will tell their clients WHAT to do to get healthy, but not HOW! So with that experience and working through my 3rd postpartum journey dealing with EXTREME Mom brain, Productive as a Mother was born!

I help Moms who are struggling with Mom Brain learn the tools they need to relieve the Mom Brain symptoms. With these tools, Moms will also learn how to create habits that allow them the time freedom they've been missing their families or just much needed time for themselves. My clients use that extra time to get healthy or to start their dream business/side hustle so they can live a life with less stress and overwhelm while still having a clean house.

My planners, journals and courses are a combination of what I've learned dealing with my own struggles and through the personal development books, courses, and coaching I've purchased along the way.. I created these tools for myself but then quickly realized that my methods could also help other Moms feel less like a Hot Mess and more like a Mom Maven! Now you will learn from my trials and errors and accomplishments in one place with the support you need to keep it going. I look forward to helping you create the productive life that you deserve!
